I actually wanted to do a Western Eurotrip, but due to working commitments (my fucked-up work which crippled my chances of getting a 2 months leave), I had to budget it to a 3 weeks short trip in UK instead.
The planning for this trip was rather lackadaisical in my opinion, since I was occupied with my exams preparation, hence travel research was done inadequately. It could had been planned better, I guessed.
Honestly, UK is an expensive country, despite the latest currency rates is around £1 for RM5, and in this trip I'm striving to survive there for 27 days with just £2000 pounds or less if possible.
My first 6 weeks before my departure was spent with travel research and revision for my exams. Accommodation and train/bus tickets were booked relatively late, which I strongly believed would be much cheaper if I had purchased them earlier. Nonetheless, my travel dates are within UK's summer peak and therefore everything would be expensive then!
Since my exams would be in Edinburgh so I arranged my trip to start off with Edinburgh, and Scotland before I travel southwards go England. I would love to visit both Ireland and Wales but there's just not enough time.
Anyway the few hours before departure I was still busy packing and getting my travel documents ready. I even had to buy a printer last minute to print outs the ticket reservation and booking receipts, just to play safe. As a result of bring ill-prepared, I left my camera's battery charger pack at home! Arrgh!
As expected the trip to the airport was smooth and I had the privilege to be chauffeured by an old close friend whom I believe will insist to remain unnamed here. I arrived in KLIA at 6 pm and lingered around in Burger King (my hang out spot whenever I were to be in KLIA) till I met up with my ex uni mate who's heading for UK for the same exams too, though his venue would be Aberdeen. It's nice to meet up with a friend you haven't seen for 5 years especially when your feeble mind's constantly besieged by anxiety of the exams.
We hanged out in Burger King till it was close to departure time and the entire process was uneventful. Since we bought the air tickets separately we ended up sitting away from each other as well. A good thing since I can enjoy the in-flight movies in peace!
After 13 hours of back breaking journey and 4 in-flight movies we finally landed in Heathrow airport safely in a piece! Hello UK!
