A short stroll in Edinburgh

Too stressed up with studying I decided to wander around Edinburgh the following day. I woke up the next day at 4am as it was already broad daylight and those damned seagulls were squawking non stop the whole night. However the weather was lovely so I lazed in bed and dozed off till around 7am.

What I love most about walking around in Old Edinburgh city is that the Edinburgh castle is always within your sight, always at the horizon on top of the hill. And as you walk around it, you can see its beauty in various angles.

I walked towards Newtown and felt like a stranger: the streets were empty and non of the shops were opened yet! So I headed back to the Surgeon's Hall Museum which was near to my hostel. They gave a brief history on how surgeons are created and why they are addressed as Misters and Miss instead of doctors. :)

At near noon I went to the National Museum of Scotland for a stroll; as a general museum there were exhibits of all sorts -- natural history, social science, science and technology, arts, etc.. Mary, Queen of Scots was being exhibited too but since it costed around £10 I decided to leave it.

Next in the list was Natural Gallery of Museum. Although I'm not a keen fan of paintings I still went for a peek since there weren't any admission fees. And yes, it confirmed that I'm not talented in appreciating paintings.

One of my favorite places in Edinburgh is the Princes Garden. I like the idea of lazing under the sun among the blooming flowers, doing completely nothing at all! To know that this garden was once a swamp where human waste once flowers into certainly did not hinder me from repeatedly lazing on its grassy mounds.

Calton Hill was next on the list; the rain failed to deter me from hiking up this little hill. It was too late to visit the Nelson monument so I hanged out around the Parthenon. No wonder Edinburgh is also know as Athens of the North!
